When the game started off with a singing Sunflower, I knew this was going to be a very funny game. You must defend your house from zombies. This is where the plants come into play. You must build up defensive walls with your army of plants and their powers. There are whopping 40+ different plants to help you in your mission. You have offensive and defensive plants. These include plants that spit peas (including some made of ice), potatoes that are walls, and trees that have a flame to turn your projectiles into fireballs.
There are various different types of zombies. These can range from normal ones, to bobsled zombies, to zombies riding a Zamboni. The zombies can be clever by using many different things like screen doors, dolphins, and even football costumes; anything they could use to get past your plants and into your home. There are zombies with wacked out music that tends to dance their way through your yard. The music tends to get repetitive. The attempt to add more music via the dancing zombies seems to me a little cry for help to pull you away from the repeating level music.
This game has four types of game modes. One is Adventure mode, where you must make your way through the campaign. Mini-Game mode is a nice touch adding more fun to your experience you can bowl through your zombies play pinball on the lawn and more. Puzzle mode on the other hand has many different aspects going for it, ranging from you being zombies trying to get through the plants, to you trying to whack vases and setting up a pre-determined plant in your mission to save your brains. Survival mode lets you face an endless supply of zombies.
There is also a store that you can buy more defensive and offensive items.
It also has a cool little feature that allows you to make your very own zombie avatar that you may export to your computer and allow you to use it on any site avatar.
The games mechanics are very simple for new gamers and not too easy for experienced gamers alike. After going through the game, Adventure mode tends to grow stale after a while by becoming very repetitive. The game saves itself by adding the various game modes and depth in to the other modes. I can’t see hardcore gamers playing this game for long, but as for average and new gamers this game has all the bells and whistles you would want from a tower defense game.
